Why did Jesus disappear so fast at Emmaus (Lk 24:1-35)?
As the two disciples were going to Emmaus, the risen Lord joined them and explained to them the meaning of His suffering, death and resurrection from the scriptures. When He broke the bread, the disciples recognized Him, but He immediately disappeared from them. The reason is that the disciples should experience His presence not in His physical sense, but rather in the Eucharist and the word of God. So, we encounter Christ in the Eucharist and the word of God even today.
